The Global MOOC Alliance was launched on 11 December. It involved world-leading universities and online education platforms, ready to work together to address digital education challenges.
Politecnico di Milano is one of the founding members of this alliance which will operate as a mechanism for exchange and cooperation, provide leadership in the field of higher education and implement practical strategic actions, in individual member communities and globally. The partnership’s cornerstones are joint teaching, capacity building, knowledge sharing and public advocacy with a focus on the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goal Four (Quality Education).
The alliance was launched during the Global MOOC Conference, co-organised by Tsinghua University and UNESCO IITE and dedicated to “Learning Revolution and Higher Education Transformation.” It was important to reflect on education changes and opportunities that have arisen in the internet age which increased following the COVID-19 global pandemic.
I believe that combining the change brought about by digital tools with an international perspective is the only way to navigate the current revolutionary phase. Prof. Resta concluded.
The Global MOOC Alliance founding members are: CRI (Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity), edX, Mongolian University of Science and Technology, Nanyang Technological University, Peking University, Politecnico di Milano, Rice University, RWTH Aachen University, Saint Petersburg University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Thai MOOC, Tsinghua University, University of Auckland, University of Chile, University of Manchester, University of Nairobi, University of Toronto, XuetangX, Zhejiang University.
